In this session we will demonstrate many of these tools and show how you can assist your students in setting up these tools to take with them after high school. Guidelines will be given to determine if it is simply ADHD or trauma. Managing Highly Energized Students in a Constructive Way to Increase their Ability to Focus Room 513 Anna Malone, MES, PLMHP - Oasis Counseling Anna is innovative and creative and will present different activities and interventions to manage high energy students in the classroom. In the past Anna has worked with students who have behavior problems in an in-home and residential setting. She is a former teacher of 1-9th graders in a parochial school setting and presently is a child/adolescent therapist at Oasis Counseling in Norfolk. This session will emphasize on writing language objectives to demonstrate (the how) students will access and interact with the content (the what). Recognition & Addressing of Suicidal Youth - LINK Room 403 Andres Sandoval, Midtown Health Center This session will assist staff in recognizing the signs and signals of youth contemplating suicide. Andres will also identify regional resources to help staff refer and assist youth in accessing appropriate services safely and with dignity. AQuESTT: A Broader, Bolder, Better Approach to Accountability Room 601 Sue Anderson, NDE This session will explore how AQuESTT, Nebraska’s accountability system, recognizes and supports the good work schools and districts do to ensure all students are successful. Teachers and school leaders will also learn how AQuESTT meets the statutory requirements of school accountability including the performance classification of schools and districts and the designation of priority schools. Handing a Crisis in your Building/District CANCELLED Annette Eyman & Kala Morrissey, Papillion La Vista Community Schools Crisis in schools come in all different forms. From a student illness, a staff member death, or a threat against your building, crisis in schools is constant. When and how do you decide to communication a “crisis” with parents? What is the best way to communicate bad information? This presentation will share strategies for handling a crisis situation at the building and district level.
